Euroflex is a Mechanical Elastomeric joint type secured to the deck with mechanical fixing bolts. The range of joint sizes is extensive with a large movement accommodation of up to 330 mm ( ± 165 mm ) making the joint the ideal solution for large structures.
The EUROFLEX expansion joint permits movement through shear deformation of the rubber pads. Steel is vulcanised into non-ageing rubber, strengthening the joint and providing a cover over the gaps between the abutment and superstructure.
A EUROFLEX installation consists of a number of 2 metre modules (1 metre for the S350) and fitted units for the kerbs, verges and central reserve. The units are cold vulcanised together on site to make a continuous, durable and waterproof joint
EUROFLEX expansion joints accommodate movement in all directions. The deformation takes place on the same principle as a reinforced elastomeric bearing. This joint concept has been used for more than 30 years and has proven itself resistant to impact in service. It is a HIGHWAY AGENCY, SA1 approved joint and meets the requirements of BA26/94 and BD33/94

EUROFLEX special features include :

Minimum 2.5mm rubber covering of steel

Rubber vulcanised to steel permits the transmission of an effective wheel load of 140kn without damage. (DIN standard 1072)

Steel edges are rounded to avoid rubber damage from impact load.

Additional steel surround to fixing slots to avoid load transfer stress to anchors.

Reduced spacings between anchors (250 centres) to ensure a standard 500mm HGV tyre never impacts on single anchor.

Euroflex Units manufactured heavier and deeper to better cope with modern traffic conditions.

Special secondary heavy duty washers prevent loss of torque on fixings.
